This page provides resources for both those who wish to have a site designed for them and for those who need help in some way with designing a site. If you'd like to talk to me about having a site designed, please contact me.. If you need help with any of the resources I have provided below, feel free to contact me as well. You can reach me by email at the obvious address -- myfirstname @ erikastokes.com where myfirstname is erika, or by phone at 603-557-4270.
I provide web development services primarily for clients in the southern New Hampshire area. The majority of my clients are referred by word of mouth, but I am happy to accept clients who contact me directly, both from the area and outside.
The sites I design and develop range from simple 3-5 page "web presence" sites to complex database-driven eCommerce sites.
Sites are designed using current design methods which allow your site to be viewed in all major browsers, including mobile devices and devices designed for the vision-impaired.

Rates:
Because each site and the business that needs it is unique, the following rates are guidelines only. For an exact quote, please contact me.
New Sites:
I develop new sites on a flat-rate basis so that we both know what to expect--there are no surprise or hidden charges. Design includes incorporation of your existing logo into a unique site designed exclusively for you. (I will also consider utilizing pre-designed templates, if you have one you're in love with.) A 3-5 page site with no eCommerce and under 10 "screens" of information runs approximately $300.
Development of eCommerce and database sites starts at $500, which includes the addition of many of your items. eCommerce and Database sites have functionality which allows you to provide your own upkeep, if desired.
Existing Sites:
Modification of existing sites is available at hourly rates between $37.50 and $50 per hour with a minimum charge of $15. Oftentimes, however, it makes more sense to completely re-vamp a site to bring it up to date and make it universally accessible. Site re-vamping is done at the "new" site prices.
Sub-Contracting
I am always happy to accept sub-contract work from other design firms! In fact, this is what I have been doing the most of lately. My specialty is converting Photoshop layouts to XHTML/CSS files. Turnaround time for this type of work is typically 24 hours. Get that backlog out of the way! Contact me for sub-contract rates and to learn more.
Sites from Templates:
If you have a site design that you love and just need someone to create a website from it, I would be happy to assist. I provide standard HTML design at an hourly rate of $37.50, and PHP coding at a rate of $50 per hour. Please contact me for details.
There are some nice templates available at very affordable rates at BasicTemplates.com -- last time I checked I think they were all only $12 each. Why would I recommend this even though I'm a designer? Sometimes, it's just easier on both the pocketbook and the brain to use a template. I don't use them for any of the "unique and new" sites I produce for clients but have used a couple for personal sites and have provided customization of some of these templates for customers who fell in love with a template.

Nifty Sites:
This site is incredibly helpful for looking up syntax for everything from CSS to PHP to ASP to TCP/IP. Their Site Search function will bring up just about anything you want to know.
This site helps you identify a font based on appearance if you don't know its name.
