I made this quilt for my nephew, Jackson, when he was born in 2007. It is flannel on both sides with a satin binding and no batting. I left the batting out so that it would be functional in multiple seasons and not be too warm with the double flannel. It came out slightly thinner than a regular quilt and about as thick as a standard baby blanket. Jackson’s dad is very into car racing, so along with standard baby prints, I used a few extra car prints as well.
Quilting with flannel is really hard on a sewing machine–if you happen to try it, I recommend a thorough professional cleaning of your machine afterwards!
Had I known at the time that I might someday put this photo online, I might have tried to take it hanging up instead of laid out on a bed with the corners cut off!
